Seakeeper Ride

M/S ELLA - Seakeeper Ride 450

Ultimate Vessel Attitude Control for Superior Comfort

M/S ELLA, our Parker 760 Quest powered by a Mercury ProXS V8 225 HP and equipped with Mercury Active Trim, now features the Seakeeper Ride 450 – the world’s first Vessel Attitude Control System.

Installed on the transom below the waterline, this intelligent system eliminates up to 70 % of pitch and roll while underway, transforming every trip into a smooth, dry, and effortless experience – whether we’re heading offshore for tuna or cruising the archipelago with family.

How It Works on M/S ELLA

Two compact Seakeeper Ride 450 controllers are flush-mounted to ELLA’s reinforced transom. Using proprietary inertial sensors and advanced software, the system continuously monitors pitch, roll, and yaw in real time. As soon as motion is detected – even in milliseconds – the rotary blades deploy into the water flow at up to 300 mm per second, generating precise lift to keep the hull perfectly balanced.

Result on ELLA:

  • Instant planing with minimal bow rise
  • Reduced pounding in head seas
  • Stable platform at drift or trolling
  • Dry cockpit even in beam seas

The system works in harmony with Mercury Active Trim, which optimizes engine trim angle, while Seakeeper Ride dynamically adjusts running attitude – no driver input required.

Why It’s Better on M/S ELLA

Traditional trim tabs react slowly and only control pitch. Interceptors are faster but limited in scope. Seakeeper Ride 450 is different:

  • 100 adjustments per second – reacts before you feel the wave
  • Controls pitch + roll + yaw simultaneously
  • Fully automatic – no buttons, no guessing
  • Draws only 7–10 A – no battery drain, even on long trips
  • Sealed & greased drivetrain – zero saltwater contact, built to last

ELLA has a TSI Deep-V Planing Hull (twin-stepped design with a sharp V-entry forward for soft wave penetration, transitioning to shallower aft sections via two steps for lift, efficiency, and speed). Deadrise: 20° at transom (optimized for offshore stability and a dry ride, with steps reducing drag during planing).

The Ride 450 keeps us level in rough conditions, reduces crew fatigue, and lets us fish or relax without bracing for the next wave.

System Components on M/S ELLA

Component Function on ELLA
Rotary Blade Deploys into water flow to create instant lift and motion control
Seal Plate Distributes forces cleanly across the transom; custom-wedged for 20° deadrise
Rotary Actuator High-speed motor drives blade in/out with sub-second precision
Actuator Plate Bolted foundation linking system to transom plate
Wedge Pack Precision shims ensure perfect blade angle to hull bottom
Transom Plate Epoxy-bonded to fiberglass transom; supports full dynamic loads

Seamless Integration
  • MFD Control: Full interface via Simrad NSS12 evo3s and NSX3007
  • Power: 12 V DC from house bank – fused at 25 A
  • Network: Ethernet + NMEA 2000 + Ride-CAN Bus
