Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) – Wildlife.Quest
What do we charge for our motor yacht adventures?
We love exploring the seas on our motor yacht and want to share these wildlife-focused adventures with everyone who joins. Participation is free in terms of the boat itself – we do **not** charge anything for the use of the boat, fuel, insurance, harbor fees, or similar operating costs.
The fixed amount requested is solely a catering and handling flat rate to cover food, water, toiletries, kitchen supplies, and other consumables. The skipper and crew receive no personal income from these trips. At the end of each trip/section/tour, any surplus from this flat rate will be donated to the DGzRS (German Maritime Search and Rescue Service – Die Seenotretter), supporting their vital work in maritime rescue on the North and Baltic Seas.
Are there any additional fees?
No – apart from the catering and handling flat rate, there are no further costs on our side. Everything related to the boat (fuel, mooring, insurance, etc.) is fully covered by us.
What is the safety protocol?
Safety is our top priority on a motor yacht. Follow the skipper's instructions at all times. Do not adjust equipment without permission. We provide briefings on safety procedures.
What is not included in the fixed flat rate?
Not included (at your own expense): Travel to and from the motor yacht's starting/ending location, as well as any meals and drinks taken ashore.
What do I need to know about medical equipment and illnesses?
A comprehensive first aid kit is onboard. Inform us of any medical conditions or medications before the trip—bring enough for the duration. For seasickness (possible even on a motor yacht): Prevent with rest, hydration, and medication if needed. We can recommend options.
How about food and beverages?
Shared food and drinks are covered by the catering flat rate, but some items are reserved for meals—ask the skipper before taking anything. Discuss preferences or allergies in advance. Water is safe from tanks. Alcohol is not provided; it's prohibited underway but allowed in moderation at anchor.
How about trash?
Space is limited—compress trash (trash compactor on board) and remove excess packaging before boarding. Organic waste may be disposed overboard where allowed (never plastic!). Ask the skipper if unsure.
How about the head (bathroom) on board?
Marine systems are delicate—only human waste in the toilet. Dispose of toilet paper in the provided bin. Follow skipper instructions for flushing to avoid issues.
How about electricity on board?
We use a 230V system powered by batteries, main or wing engine and the generator/engine. There are no restrictions. We have 5 HVAC sytems and 2 diesel heater on board.
How about water on board?
Our motor yacht is self-contained with tanks for water (1580L), a freshwater maker, electricity, waste, and sewage. Resources are sufficient but limited—use wisely.
- Tank water is drinkable (confirm with skipper).
- Showers: Freshwater in 2 Heads
- Never leave water running.
What if I have dietary restrictions?
This depends on your specific needs. Accommodating restrictions on a small motor yacht can be challenging. Please contact us before booking so we can discuss and evaluate your situation.
What will we do when we are at anchor?
On overnight trips, we often anchor in scenic spots for wildlife viewing. You'll have free time to relax, observe nature, photograph animals, or use onboard equipment like binoculars. We have a drone, tender, SUP and a kayak for closer exploration (where safe and permitted). We carry two electro scooter on board. We also, in case we tow our M/S ELLA (Parker760Quest), go on extended fishing trips, while MY SISU stays in the anchorage.
What should I bring?
Our adventures are active motor yacht trips focused on wildlife observation. Pack for variable conditions on the water, including potential cool breezes. Essentials include good outdoor clothing (trousers, jackets, fleeces), sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, non-slip shoes, and personal items.
- Be prepared for all weather.
- Going barefoot is discouraged for safety.
- Luggage: Use soft bags (e.g., dry bags or duffles)—no hard-shell suitcases.
- Keep belongings stored in your cabin to maintain order and safety.
- Shared bathroom: Keep counters dry and store toiletries after use.
We provide life jackets, Immersion suits and safety harnesses.
Do I need boating, fishing, or wildlife experience?
No prior boating, fishing, or wildlife experience is required – our trips are open to enthusiastic beginners as well as experienced participants. However, such experience is very helpful and will make your adventure more enjoyable.
Everyone on board is expected to actively participate as crew: this includes deckhand duties, galley work (cooking and cleaning), general cleaning, and – after sufficient training by the skipper – taking the helm during day or night watches. The skipper will provide all necessary instruction and ensure safe handling.
What's the weather like?
Weather varies by location, but expect mild to cold
conditions with possible breezes or rain. Always bring sun protection (hat, sunscreen, UV clothing) and layers for cooler moments.
What if we experience bad weather?
Weather changes may require us to delay departure, stay in port longer, or adjust the itinerary. We prioritize safety and rarely cancel trips entirely, but refunds are not typically issued for weather-related adjustments.
What language do we speak on board?
We speak German and English on board.
