First Leg: Nieuwpoort (BE) → Stavanger (NO)
Approx. 700–800 nm

On this inaugural passage, I plan to make two meaningful stopovers along the German coast—Norderney and Helgoland. As MY SISU flies the German flag, this will be her first visit to German waters, making the journey especially significant.
- DGzRS Station Visit: I intend to tour at least one station of the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS). This remarkable organization stands out as one of the few truly independent, volunteer-driven rescue services in the world. Fully funded by private donations—without any state subsidies or support—the DGzRS embodies selfless dedication. To me, its members are genuine heroes safeguarding lives at sea.
- Helgoland – A Childhood Dream: Visiting Germany’s only high-seas island has been a lifelong aspiration. A stopover here is non-negotiable.
From Helgoland, the route continues northward with potential brief stops along the Danish coast. A definite highlight will be Hanstholm, including a 1–2 day layover at the legendary Yellow Reef for some prime fishing.
The short crossing from Hirtshals to Kristiansand marks the arrival in Norway, followed by a scenic cruise along the southwestern coast to Stavanger.
From Stavanger Onward – Core Highlights (Details to be Finalized)
While the exact timeline and itinerary will be refined over the coming month, several key experiences are already set:
- Explore iconic fjords: Lysefjord, Geirangerfjord, Nordfjord, and Sognefjord
- Hike to Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock)
- Stopovers in Bergen, Ålesund, and Trondheim
- Whale watching whenever opportunities arise
- Fishing at every suitable moment
- Towing my Parker 760 Quest (M/S ELLA) as a tender for quick sightseeing excursions and fishing trips
From Trondheim, we’ll follow the Atlantic route northward to the Lofoten Islands. Fishing will remain a constant companion throughout the journey.

Into the Far North
In the northern waters, we may deploy crab pots for King Crab (a fishing license for MY SISU is obtainable).
Destinations such as Tromsø, Hitra, Bodø, Svolvær, and other renowned fishing hotspots will be decided en route, depending on weather, conditions, and local recommendations.
Winter 2026/2027 & Beyond
MY SISU will overwinter safely in northern Norway, poised for her grand Svalbard adventure in 2027. On the return south, we’ll evaluate the next chapter—perhaps the Baltic Sea, or a return to the Mediterranean. The sea will decide.
